Workshop days
In addition to the residential courses, members of the Hammig String Quartet run nine day-long quartet workshops through the year, in West Wickham (near Bromley, Kent), Enfield (North London) and Lewes (East Sussex).
These are ideal as an introduction for players with no experience of string chamber music who would like to try playing a quartet in a supportive environment, and also for those who already enjoy playing string quartets and would like to spend a day working in depth on a quartet, in a string orchestra setting.
Coming up
Each workshop runs from 10am to 4.30pm.
Bar-numbered scans of the parts are available on request by email — bar numbering matters, as rehearsal marks vary between editions — and the prepared parts often include the tutors’ suggested bowings and fingerings.
Save the dates
West Wickham and Lewes workshops are on Saturdays; Enfield workshops are on Sundays. Repertoire and tutors will be announced nearer the time.
